Hopper's Story

Home Happy Endings

Dear Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue,

HopperHello, My name is Hopper and you may remember me from a while ago when I stayed with you. I am writing you this letter to tell you how I am and what I have been doing lately.
I am sorry it took me so long to write to you and thank you for helping me find my mom. I have been very busy at work. You see my mom takes me to work with her. I am very popular here. I get a lot of attention at work. I am most puzzled by a machine that mom refers to as “the copier”. It makes noise and spits out paper, which naturally drives me crazy. Of course I bark at this contraption and when that doesn’t seem to intimidate it I take jump up and take the papers from it and proceed to tear them apart. At this point my mom and all my other co-workers are usually in hysterics. Which I really don’t understand. Don’t they realize that I just saved them from a vicious monster? I am very important at work, and when I do a good job I am rewarded by everyone with cookies and love.

I have met the love of my life. Her name is Lulu and she lives across the street from me. My mom teases me because she says that Lulu is too little for me, but I like her. She is lovely to play with. My mom refers to her as a “wiener dog”, and I politely remind her it’s not nice to call people names.

I have my own chair in the living room and it is in just the right place so that I can watch the whole house. I also have my own little couch that matches my moms, but mostly I like to sit on the big couch with mom and cuddle up to her. She teases me and tells me that I snore like a people. I don’t know what she is talking about. First of all, I do NOT snore, and if I did, of course it would be like a people, what else would it be like; I am after all a people.

I have my own bed too, but I sleep with my mom in her bed. I do thins because I think that she might beRyan & Hopper afraid of the dark, I am definitely NOT afraid of the dark. And sometimes she looks could so I curl up to her as close as I possibly can so that she will be warm.

My mom and I go for walks after work everyday, and just about the time we get to the park a big yellow thing gets there too. Mom says this is a “school bus”. What is this school she speaks of? But, then the most glorious thing happens… Many children get out of this so called bus and they all love to play. Kids are my very favorite toys. They like to run through the park and they like to roll down the hill, and lucky me, so do I. My mom says I am over dramatic and I should not throw my self down the hill as I do ‘cause I might hurt my self. But it makes the kids laugh and so I do it again.

I have a niece and she loves me very much. She feeds me right from her high chair when ever I go over there. We some times share chips to. Doritos are our favorite. She takes a lick of the cheese dust and then I get one, but only one, and then it is her turn again. But we have to hide; because once my mom sees this the fun is over because I am on a special diet to keep me healthy.

My doctor says that I am making swift advancements in my recovery. I don’t understand this because I don’t think that there is anything wrong with me to require recovery. I asked my mom and she said that my legs are just different then others. So, that is why it is very important that we take our walks and that I take my medicine. The doctor says that I am doing so well that I don’t need any surgery. He says that I am so happy now that you can see it all over. Everyone says that my coat is much shinier and that my eyes twinkle more now that I found my mom. I agree ‘cause she is the best mom in the whole world and she tells me all the time that I am the best friend she could ever ask for.

Sincerely,
Hopper
